SPECIAL MEETING OF THE AVOYELLES PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

May 18, 2021

Special Meeting of the Avoyelles Parish School Board met Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m. at the School Board Office with the following members present:

Stanley Celestine, Jr., President; Jill Guidry,Vice President, and Thelma J. Prater, Interim Superintendent, Latisha Small, Lynn Deloach, Chris Lacour, Robin Moreau, Chris Robinson, Rickey Adams and Aimee Dupuy, Board Members; Mary Bonnette, Director of Finance; supervisors, and coordinators.

1.             President Stanley Celestine, Jr. addressed the board with an update and review of previous advertisement plan for Superintendent.

Upon motion by Aimee Dupuy, seconded by Robin Moreau, the board approved to advertise with Louisiana Association of School Superintendents, Louisiana School Board Association, Indeed, Glass Ceiling and Ziprecruiter. Advertisement will run from May 19, 2021 through July 1, 2021. All applications due on July 1, 2021 by 3:00pm and can be submitted electronically to Board President Stanley Celestine, Jr. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

2.             Interim Superintendent Thelma J. Prater stated that she was in receipt of four (4) applications for the Corinne L. Saucier Scholarship for a graduating senior. Ms. Prater said that she was advised that there was one scholarship available to a senior who will be attending Northwestern State University.

President Stanley Celestine, Jr. opened the floor for nominations. Mrs. Guidry made a nomination for Ms. Bordelon and Mr. Robinson made a nomination for Mr. Lewis.

The motion was adopted 5-4 vote.

Ms. Bordelon -             Jill Guidry, Aimee Dupuy, Robin Moreau, Chris Lacour and Lynn Deloach.

Mr. Lewis -                   Chris Robinson, Rickey Adams, Stanley Celestine, Jr. and Latisha Small.

Upon motion by Jill Guidry, seconded by Chris Lacour, the board agreed to award the Corinne L. Saucier Scholarship to Tenley Bordelon of Louisiana School for the Agricultural Sciences.

There being no further business, on motion by Robin Moreau, seconded by Jill Guidry. the meeting was adjourned.
