SCHOOL BUS SAFETY INSPECTIONS

It shall be the policy of the Avoyelles Parish School Board to require all vehicles used for the transportation of children, whether privately or publicly owned, be inspected two (2) times annually by authorized and qualified personnel.  Inspections shall be conducted in December, January, or February, and during June, July or August by an approved Louisiana Motor Vehicle Inspection Station.  Prior to the start of school each year, all buses shall undergo a School Board inspection.  Any bus found to be deficient shall be so designated and shall not be used to transport students until the appropriate repairs have been made and further inspection reveals that the deficiency has been removed.

All vehicles used for the transportation of children, whether privately or publicly owned, may also be inspected periodically by local transportation personnel in accordance with standards established by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) and/or School Board.
